[ He sees her-- the sunlight in her auburn hair, the slight flush to her porcelain cheeks. Merrick wants so badly to reach over and tuck some of that hair behind her ear, to let his fingertips trail over the curve of her cheek. He wants hold her hand, feel the softness of her skin against his rough, calloused palm. He wants to kiss her. To tell her how much she means to him.
But he doesn't. He just nods in agreement, half-smile lingering. ]
